My Favorite Breakfast Items

12:00 PM

Breakfast! Something you must not skip on. After sleeping your body is coming out of a fast or absence from food and needs the calories to properly run your body. You MUST break the fast

So what's my favorite breakfast foods....

Rolled oats and berries!
Ingredients
1 tbs chia seeds
1/3 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbs chopped pecans
Mixed berries to top
Shredded coconut to top

Directions
1. Stir chia seeds, oats, almond milk, honey, vanilla extract and chopped pecans all together. Pour into glass jar or bowl.
2. Place into fridge and chill overnight.
3. Top with fresh berries and coconut when you are ready to serve. Alternatively you could heat up the berries in a saucepan until broken down and use as a berry sauce.

If you'rein a rush and need to simplify things...try a smoothie. Quick, easy, healthy, and gets the job done! I have a smoothie almost every day!

This smoothie is great for breakfast and great for added energy too!
HERE'S A FEW  SMOOTHIE MAKING TIPS FIRST:
USE FROZEN FRUIT: I like to use frozen fruit instead of ice cubes in my smoothies. For this smoothie you want to use mixed berries, like blueberries, raspberries, blackberries….these berries give you energy! And to make it super easy, I just  buy the chopped frozen mixed berries in the frozen section of my grocery store, because I’m all about making things quicker and easier!
FILL UP YOUR BLENDER: You always want to layer your ingredients softest to hardest (frozen). First, add the orange juice, vanilla extract, and yogurt. Then, add the fresh or frozen fruit.
Ingredients:
2 cups orange juice
1 cup vanilla yogurt
vanilla Shakeology
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups mixed fresh or frozen berries
Directions:
STEP 1: Place all ingredients into blender (liquid ingredients first).
STEP 2: Blend on high for 2 minutes or until smooth. Scrap down sides and blend for another 30 seconds.
STEP 3: Serve and enjoy!

...and my other go to breakfast item...
Scrambled eggs and avocado toast! Yum Yum Yum!

You Will Need:

1 egg, beaten with a splash of water
1/4 avocado
1 slice whole wheat bread

Directions:
Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Add a little oil to pan.
Add  the beaten egg; season with salt and pepper and scramble.
Continue to cook the egg by repeating the process of pulling the egg to the center of pan until done.
In a small bowl, mash the avocado with a fork and season with salt and pepper (add a little Tabasco if you like heat) and spread on toast. Top with the scrambled egg.

These are just a few of my favorites!
Find yours, be creative, and enjoy!
